These
houses are 100 miles (two hours by car) north of Inverness in the small glen of
Strathan Skerray. The nearest shops are in Tongue, seven miles to the west. This
is one of the least spoilt areas of Scotland and it yields a spectacular
succession of dramatic landscapes. The sea is studded with islands, there are
rugged cliffs where many sea birds nest and extensive empty sandy beaches. The
most northerly Palm Tree in the World grows in Tongue. This might give you
an indication of the mild climate we
enjoy. Average rainfall is half that on the west coast and at 35 inches a year is
about the same as that in Edinburgh. We are sheltered from the prevailing
south-westerly winds by mountains over 3000 ft high and we often have much
better weather than that forecast |
